Biography

I started Her Furniture Addiction simply to show photos of furniture that I saw while browsing the Internet that I thought looked great. When I worked in the retail industry (10 years), I always felt there was a wide disconnect between what I was seeing in magazines and what I was seeing in real people's (really cool people) homes.

Before Her Furniture Addiction I worked in non-profit administration and big box retail facilities. Eventually I started my own company, Her Shoe Addiction, LLC specialising in marketing and advertising women's shoes and accessories like Jimmy Choo and Dolce & Gabbana. I loved the challenge of selecting and marketing products to showcase for clients. Working in the shoe & fashion industry was a blast; I understand why it is so easy to become a shoe addict.

Shortly after my last community organising project I began focusing more on online marketing and advertising. I didn't want to become a 'fashion designer' but I knew somehow my design skills and marketing would merge. I just never guessed it would be in the form of a blog.

I thought I could find products on the Internet that people would want to have in their homes and get and give lots of inspiration to people in the process. My only strategy when I began Her Furniture Addiction was to inspire the average homeowner to purchase the pieces they covet in magazines. Rarely do they purchase furniture pieces they see in magazines. At the same time I want to explore and feature abstract color concepts, proportion, and mixed genres. I'm always really happy when I can help a shopper. At the same time I am really touched when I get new subscribers.

I was born in South Carolina went to college at the University of South Carolina majoring in Business Administration. That's right, my college days were filled with accounting classes and writing English papers.  I excelled in some extremely challenging courses in anthropology and art history. That was the beginning of my love for the craft of business, design and development. I learned life is an art and takes hard labour and dedication to excel in any business.

The company Her Shoe Addiction, LLC has grown so much since 2007 and has expanded into Frenchie's Addictions to umbrella all "the addictions" including Her Furniture Addiction. I could not be more thrilled by the community it has created and the wonderful associates I have been able to create.

If you had told me 5 years ago I would have a business, several blogs, local newspaper features and countless other side projects I would have liked you a lot and the idea even better!!

I am already working on several new projects to keep Her Furniture Addiction evolving so I hope you will continue to visit.
